Citizens Dispute Settlement Program
The Citizens Dispute Settlement Program (CDSP) of Toledo
Municipal Court provides the people of Toledo an alternative
means of solving disputes other than the traditional court
system. Mediation is a particularly effective method that the
program uses to help people resolve disputes. Mediations are
conducted by attorneys from the Toledo Bar Association who have
been trained as mediators and who volunteer their services, as
well as by the CDSP staff.
Cases referred to CDSP are those involving misdemeanant
behavior such as menacing, criminal damaging, assault and
various neighborhood disputes. CDSP also mediates civil cases
such as rent escrow, small claims cases and general civil cases
with jurisdiction up to $15,000.00.
A check resolution service is provided to allow receivers of
“bounced” checks to recover their money without filing criminal
charges.
